Mediation > How Mediation Works

A student representative will speak to you and others involved in the dispute to discuss mediation as an option. Mediation is voluntary. If all parties do agree to mediate, a meeting time convenient for everyone is scheduled.

At the meeting, a team of neutral, third-party mediators will help you talk with the other participant(s) to discuss differences and potential solutions. An informal approach to dispute resolution, this process takes place in a confidential and safe environment. The mediator's role is to listen closely to all sides of the dispute and guide the participants to a mutually acceptable agreement (verbal or written). This is a facilitated discussion: the mediators will not take sides, make judgments, or decisions for you.

This is a free, student-run service.
